Each cottage or personal plot clearly needs a thorough, high -quality fence, which serves not only an obstacle to the free access of outsiders, but also a specific designation of a private territory, the inviolability of which is protected by law. Naturally, in order to organize access to the country/household territory, you will need to install the gate, the choice of which often causes difficulties.
Gates for summer cottages come in different types, are made of various materials and require different external design in accordance with the tastes of the customer and the design style of the estate. However, first of all, it is worth, nevertheless, to decide on the type of gate that is best suited to the specific conditions of the location and internal layout of the summer cottage, and, of course, more in line with the tastes and ideas of the owners.
Of the types available to civilian consumers, two are especially distinguished – swing and retractable. Both of these types have both advantages and, of course, disadvantages, the significance of which depends on the specific installation and operation conditions of the gate.
Swing gates are a classic option known to mankind since ancient times. The advantages of double-leaf (usually) swing gates are their relative simplicity and noticeably lower cost. The disadvantages are most manifested in the process of their operation:
– the lack of free space in the yard due to the small area and dense buildings can make their installation almost impossible – they simply have nowhere to open;
– in winter, it will be necessary to clear a large area from snow, almost equal to the plowing zone of the wings;
– seasonal ground elevations sometimes make the movement of the valves very difficult: to deal with this trouble, you have to leave a significant space below, which is not always desirable and acceptable;
– expensive automation, which, if installed, negates the advantages of swing gates in price.
Sliding gates are a more modern and expensive solution with a number of operational advantages. Firstly, sliding gates are practically devoid of the disadvantages of swinging counterparts described above, and secondly, automation will cost much less and will last longer without breakdowns than in the first option. The only issue that needs to be resolved when installing sliding gates is to organize a space for a counterweight, usually equal to half the length of the opening, along the fence of the site.
